The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, W. Stuart Symington, has urged Nigerian voters to factor in the future of Nigeria in their choice of candidates in the 2019 elections.
Speaking to journalists, Symington maintained that the election is expected to be peaceful, credible and transparent.
Advising Nigerians on how their choice of candidates can affect the future of the country, he said: “The election should be about the future of Nigeria and the need for equal opportunity be made available to people across the country, either in the local communities or cities.
He added that voters have to think about the country while ensuring that their votes are used to create equal opportunities for all.
Symington also challenged Nigerian youths to use the power in their numbers to make an impact in the country.
He said, “Youths are the resource to the challenges Nigeria is facing as a country adding that they need to bond together to make the necessary impact expected of them in the country.”
Symington, who described the Nigerian youths as being a powerful force for good not just in Nigeria but in the region and the whole world reiterated that the Nigeria youths are capable to resolve the challenges the country is faced with.
“What distinguishes Nigeria is not the resource of its oil or the resource of its land and water, it is you. If all Nigerians ask themselves what do we love about our country, truly it’s your family, friends and fellow Nigerians.
“Your resilience, hard work and diversity have been a central element that binds Nigeria together and it’s a powerful force for good”, he added while addressing the youths.
